What is PPC?

PPC—or Pay Per Click—is a form of digital marketing where you only pay for ads that are clicked. In other words, you don’t pay for users to view your ads or links—you pay for them to click on them.

In this way, PPC differs from CPM (Cost Per Mille), where you pay per thousand impressions. The CPM model is used, among other places, in Facebook advertising, which we also work with at Amplify.

Most people are probably familiar with PPC advertising in connection with the keyword ads you see in Google's search results—also known as Google Ads (formerly AdWords).

It is, in fact, one of the most widespread forms of PPC, even though Microsoft’s search engine, Bing, also holds a smaller share of the keyword advertising market.

However, PPC is an umbrella term that, in addition to keyword advertising, also includes display advertising, remarketing, YouTube advertising, and Google Shopping.

In short, PPC gives you access to a wide variety of platforms and target audiences.

How does PPC work?

When a user clicks on your ads, they are redirected to your website or online store—and that is exactly the action you’re paying for.

That’s why it’s important that your ads generate a return that justifies your investment. In technical terms, your PPC ads must therefore generate a positive ROI (Return on Investment).

For the same reason, you should take a look at your products and services—do they have a high or low profit margin? If the profit margin is high, it will often be easier, for example, to make your PPC advertising profitable.

However, your ROI also depends on the cost per click, which in turn depends on several factors—including where you advertise, your products or services, and your keywords.

For example, the cost per click will be high for ads that appear when a user searches for a generic keyword with several hundred monthly searches.

So you can compare PPC advertising to an auction. The more people who bid on a particular type of ad, the higher the price will be.

However, that doesn't mean you're guaranteed impressions and clicks just because you placed the highest bid.

Google always strives to provide its users with the best and most relevant results, which is why your visibility also depends on the landing page (the page on your website that is relevant to the ad) that the ad links to.

For example, Google will demote your ad if it links to a slow-loading landing page with irrelevant content.

Successful PPC advertising, therefore, does not depend solely on the size of your budget.

Amplify's specialists review PPC campaigns

Are we a good fit for you?

Of course, we’d like to have as many customers as possible—but not at any cost. Because not everyone is a good fit for Amplify.

But does your company take a long-term view, and do you understand that one-time, hourly-based projects are not a shortcut to success—neither in Google’s search results nor in terms of your business goals?

Then Amplify might be your next agency.

We help clients who want to take their marketing strategy to new heights.

How We Work with PPC

PPC is a broad field within online marketing that can be difficult to grasp and understand.

That's why we have our own PPC specialists who know which parameters to adjust to make your campaigns successful.

At Amplify, for example, we use A/B testing to test different ads to ensure we get as many clicks as possible.

In addition, we make bid adjustments based on demographics, geography, devices, interests, and time of day.

In other words, we take all conceivable parameters into account when working with PPC advertising.

This ensures that your ads always meet your customers' needs and that you get the most conversions possible at the best price.

We work with several ad formats

As a full-service agency, we work across paid platforms and formats—including:

This allows us to always tailor our PPC advertising to your specific target audience and objectives.

Our PPC department also works closely with our SEO and web departments.

In our SEO department, for example, our copywriters work on creating well-written and relevant content that provides value to the user, just as our web department focuses on speed optimization and design to make your website user-friendly.

All of this helps ensure that your potential customers always land on a welcoming landing page—and that your advertising, as a result, generates relevant traffic that converts into paying customers.
