Technical SEO
Are you struggling to understand what's stopping you from achieving top rankings on Google? It could very well be that technical deficiencies are preventing your site from being read and indexed correctly - and this is where technical SEO comes in.
In this post, you'll get a deeper understanding of the different aspects of technical SEO.

What is technical SEO?
Where on-page SEO is all the search engine optimization users can see, technical SEO is all the work users don't see. But Google does!
If you imagine a website as a house, technical SEO is the foundation that ensures that the house is firmly planted and not swaying. Without a solid foundation, you can build something beautiful, but the result will often be mediocre.
Technical SEO is therefore an important element if you want your website to rank well in Google's algorithms.
Areas of work in technical SEO
The scope of work in technical SEO is wide-ranging and includes, among other things:
- URL structure: Optimize the URL structure so that it is logical, clear and relevant for both users and search engines. Remember your canonical tags if relevant.
- Sitemap: Create and update your sitemap to give search engines information about your content and which pages to index.
- Fast loading time: Optimize page load time to improve user experience and search engine rankings.
- Responsive design: Make sure your website works optimally on all devices, including desktop, tablet and mobile.
- HTTPS: Use a secure HTTPS connection to protect user data and improve search engine trust in your website.
- Image optimization: Optimize the images on your website to improve load time and search engines' understanding of your content.
- Troubleshooting: Run regular troubleshooting tests to detect and fix technical errors and issues on your website.
- Indexing: To rank high on keywords, you need to ensure that your pages are indexed. In case this doesn't happen automatically, you need to submit your pages for indexing.
- Redirects: Avoid "dead links" and error pages by redirecting pages that have had their URL structure changed.

Does your website have toxic backlinks?
Managing your website's backlink profile has never been more important than now. In December 2022, Google rolled out their "link spam update" - which means that your rankings can be really penalized if your website gets links from other harmful websites.
Facts about "December 2022 Google Link Spam Update"
- The update aims to combat spam and poor quality links that affect search results.
- The update focuses specifically on links created to manipulate rankings in search results.
- Google says that websites with poor content or bad link practices can expect to see a decline in their visibility in search results.
