What is Facebook Business Manager?

In short, your Business Manager is a central hub where you can gather all your business information and material for SoMe marketing in one place. This means that you can access and manage all your assets related to Facebook advertising and Instagram advertising to do from one platform - instead of having it spread out or linked to your private account. Assets include pages, ad accounts, user-identified audiences and more. Facebook Business is an easy and efficient solution for sharing access to your business assets both across your team and with external partner agencies. The program makes it possible to see who is working on what, as well as what permissions each employee has on the different pages. To summarize, here are four main reasons why Facebook Business Manager is a smart tool:
  • Control You'll be able to control access to all your assets among employees, partner agencies and suppliers.
  • Private settings You can collaborate with your colleagues without having to give them access to your personal Facebook profile.
  • Security center The app's Security Center allows you to manage and review notifications, keeping you aware of potential security risks.
  • Efficiency Work quickly becomes more efficient when you have access to control multiple assets from a single platform.
If your business has reached a size where it is relevant to share access to your company's assets among multiple employees, partners or external agencies, you should consider using Business Manager.

The most used features

As I mentioned earlier, Facebook Business Manager contains a lot of different features - some more relevant than others. It's therefore a good idea to familiarize yourself with a few of the features that you're bound to come across. I have selected a few features that will give you a good starting point to get started with Business Manager:

  • People
People is probably one of the most important features of Facebook Business Manager, as it is this feature that allows you to assign colleagues access to various company assets. You can find this feature under the 'Users' tab.
  • Pages
Another important feature is Pages, which you will find under the 'Accounts' tab. Here you'll find all your company's Facebook pages, which you can access and manage from here.
  • Ad accounts
The ad account can also be found under 'Accounts' and it works in the same way as pages. This is where you manage and control your ads from - you can read more about why this feature is particularly relevant below.

Another relevant feature that you're bound to come across is company information. This is where you will find your company's Business ID, which you will need if you need to be set up as a partner in another Business Manager, for example.

Create and monitor your ads through Facebook Business Manager

So, why is the ad account particularly relevant? Ads are not only a relevant marketing tool for larger companies or those who are already active on Facebook. The purpose of ads is to expose your company and your products or services to as many potential customers as possible. This increases your awareness, and a wider awareness increases the likelihood of sales, which is probably a common interest for businesses of all sizes.

With Business Manager you can easily create ads through an ad account. The ad account makes it possible to target your ads on Facebook based on information and data about your customers, and you can also monitor your results from it.

Pros and cons of server site and client site tracking

There are both advantages and disadvantages to the two tracking methods:

Server-side tracking - pros and cons

Benefits:

  • More accurate data collection as it is less affected by AdBlockers and browser technologies like ITP.
  • Improved website performance as tracking scripts do not burden the user's browser.
  • Higher levels of data protection and privacy compliance.

Disadvantages:

  • Technically more complex and may require advanced development resources.
  • Potentially higher server operation costs.

Client-side tracking - pros and cons

Benefits:

  • Easier to implement and manage as it often involves standard cookies and JavaScript.
  • Good for real-time data and user-level interaction tracking.

Disadvantages:

  • More vulnerable to AdBlockers, browser settings and privacy technologies like ITP.
  • Can negatively affect website load speed and user experience.
  • Reduced precision in data collection due to limitations of browser-based tracking.
